With around 12 lakh job openings, the city recorded more than 25 lakh interviews during the aforementioned period for various job roles across sectors and industries.
The West Bengal capital witnessed a 104% increase in job vacancies in the last quarter (October-December) in comparison to the July-September quarter in 2021, said in its report. Website users from across West Bengal and North East India were seen applying for jobs in Kolkata from September to December last year.
Commenting on the growth, “Kolkata has been witnessing a quarter-on-quarter increase in job openings, making it a popular destination amongst job seekers. Efforts towards empowering more people by connecting with more hyperlocal jobs and making Kolkata one of the largest employment hubs in the country”.
About 30% of the jobs applied in Kolkata in the last 90 days were by women in the city. Women have been interviewing for a variety of roles. Many Multinational Companies and local companies have been hiring their workforce in West Bengal.
